Ms Asuamah, also a Senior Staff Midwife at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital in the Bono Region, was adjudged the overall winner "Nurse and Midwife category' of the third Edition of NPA 2024 held in Accra.

The NPA is an award scheme initiated by a group of Nurses and Midwives to recognize the contributions of individual nurses and midwives towards healthcare delivery and to inspire them to work harder.

It further places emphasis and recognizes deserving rotation nurses and midwives for their tireless efforts to improve healthcare outcomes, advance the profession, and inspire others through their work.

A statement issued and copied to the GNA described Ms Asuamah as "a midwife with the ambition of disseminating vital health-related information to the public, especially on reproduction, maternal and newborn health".

"She is highly recognised voluntarily going round and propagating vital health information in schools, in the airwaves, churches and other social gatherings", the statement explained, saying "Ms Asuamah's self-initiated project tilted health@tymwiddemidwife is worthy of emulation".

The project which centres on maternal and newborn health is also on various social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

The statement signed by Mr Abraham Achire, in charge of Media and Communication of the NPA said,
"Ms Asuamah is making great impact in the healthcare delivery systems", and urged nurses and midwives to work hard and contribute to useful health outcomes.

Dr Solomon Chemogo, the Paediatrician at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, also described Ms Asuamah as hard working, saying she truly deserved the award.

"The hospital even recognised her hard work and honoured her as the 2023 best staff of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit because of her commitment to duty and passion for her work", he stated.
