Their inauguration marks the beginning of a new leadership term from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
The event was attended by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya West and a Senior Member of the Institute, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui.
The evening brought together architects of all generations, from past presidents and Fellows to associates, probationers and students of Architecture, as well as members of the Architecture Students Association of Ghana.
The Breeze Harmony Ensemble of Kasoa serenaded all with joyful harmonies, while Pastor Ola Dake, an architect and minister at the Victory Bible Church International, exhorted the newly elected council, urging them to lead with humility, hard work and a servant’s heart.
Addressing the event, Mrs Tetteh-Agbotui congratulated the newly sworn-in council.
She underscored the importance of strong collaboration between the government and professional institutions to advance national development through impactful architectural solutions and constructive criticism.
While assuring them of her support in bridging the gap between the GIA and the government to create an environment of mutual growth and progress, she also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to support professional bodies such as the GIA.
Mrs Tetteh-Agbotui, a trailblazer in her own right in the profession, further commended the GIA for its vision and urged the new council to leverage its expertise to support the nation’s infrastructure and developmental goals.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Asare expressed the council’s commitment to advancing the architectural profession, fostering innovation, sustainability and socially responsible designs within the built environment to contribute to Ghana’s progress.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration with the government, industry stakeholders and the broader community to champion the value of exceptional architecture and its vital role in society.
