This year, Ghana's all-girls robotics team, supported by Stembees, achieved remarkable recognition at the First Global Robotics Challenge in Athens, Greece, winning the Judges' Award for Perseverance. Their journey has been one of determination and passion, as these young women navigated numerous challenges to compete on the global stage including receiving their travel visas just hours before the flight! The First Global Robotics Challenge brings together students from over 190 countries to tackle the world's most pressing issues through innovation and collaboration.
Sustainable food production is one of the defining challenges of the 21st century and this year's FIRST Global theme of "Feeding the Future" challenges teams of students from around the world to learn about and address the obstacles and opportunities to provide the global population with equitable, safe, nutritious, and environmentally responsible food.
Ghana's team was made up of students from St. Louis Senior High School Robotics Club, who were the winners of the 2023 Ghana Robotics Competition. The team was supported by individuals and organizations including Mr. Kwabena Aidoo, Chale Global, Reeds Industries Limited, and Ampersand Technologies.
