The Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has charged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to actively promote and market government interventions within their jurisdictions.
That, she said, would ensure that citizens were well-informed about ongoing projects and foster accountability and public appreciation of the government's efforts to enhance national development.
"Various projects are ongoing across districts, but it seems Ghanaians are not aware of such interventions. For that reason, we need to inform them," she stated.
She emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens were aware of these projects, which ranged from the construction of roads, schools and health facilities to initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.
Ms Fatimatu made the call at an exhibition and Town Hall meeting in Tamale.
A section of the participants
Organised by the Ministry of Information, in collaboration with the ministries of Food and Agriculture and Finance, the meeting provided a platform for residents to engage directly with government officials, raise concerns, and seek clarification on development issues.
It brought together MMDCEs, traditional leaders, civil society organisations (CSOs) and a section of the public.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of Information pointed out that the government had initiated many projects while others were at various stages of completion across the country.
She mentioned the construction of roads, schools and health facilities, which were transforming the lives of many people.
She added that the Agenda 111 projects, which aimed at improving healthcare access was part of a broader strategy to enhance quality healthcare.
For his part, the Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu, lauded the government for the significant infrastructural growth and development in the region.
He mentioned key achievements, including accommodation for security personnel, improved agricultural inputs for farmers and enhanced sanitation through the provision of boreholes and waste management systems.
