Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Secretary to President Akufo-Addo is in stable condition at a hospital in the United States following an illness, the Presidency has clarified.
This was contained in a statement dated October 2, 2024, issued by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency.
The statement was to clarify the health status on the Secretary to President following some media reports suggesting he was not well and was on admission at a hospital in the United States.
Nana Bediatuo Asante, who also serves as an Ambassador-at-Large, was with President Akufo-Addo for the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
He did not return to Ghana with the President.
On Tuesday, there were diverse reports especially on social media about his health, following which the Presidency on Wednesday evening issued a statement on his health.

STATEMENT ON THE HEALTH OF NANA BEDIATUO ASANTE, SECRETARY TO THE PRESIDENT
The Office of the President wishes to inform the public about the health status of Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President.
Following the conclusion of the meeting of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, in the United States of America, where he served as a key member of President Akufo-Addo's delegation, Nana Bediatuo Asante stayed behind to conduct further government business.
He then began to feel unwell, and was subsequently admitted to hospital.
He is currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
According to the medical team, Nana Bediatuo Asante's recovery is on track, and we remain hopeful for his swift return to full strength.
