In his speech, Lancaster University UK’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simon Guy, praised the graduates for their achievements and reminded them of the importance of problem-solving, integrity, and adapting to change.
“It may be thousands of miles from Lancaster to Accra, but there can be no better expression of our belief than the bridge we have built between Lancaster and Ghana. We are committed to producing the graduates Ghana and its neighbours need to fulfil their ambition to grow economically, to be inclusive socially, and to bring lasting prosperity to all their citizens in the years to come. At Lancaster, we provide opportunities for students regardless of their backgrounds to realize their aspirations in life.”
He also announced plans to open a new overseas campus in Indonesia, in collaboration with Deakin University of Australia, stressing that this initiative is part of Lancaster’s broader vision for global outreach and inclusivity.
The provost of the University, Dr Emmanuel Arthur, commended all students on their achievements and wished them well in their future exploits.
“To all of you, as you leave, either to pursue further studies or pursue your entrepreneurial dream, always remember we have got your back to speak in your language. And if there’s ever a need for us, please don’t hesitate to fall on us. You can always call Lancaster University Ghana your home for some respite when needed. Whatever endeavours in life you find yourselves in there.”
