The Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, has announced that the service is facilitating the distribution of fibre optic connections to 740 health facilities across the country.
This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare professionals in delivering services.
Speaking at the 31st Annual General Conference of the District Directors of Health Service (DDHS) Group in Ada on Thursday, Dr. Kuma-Aboagye revealed that approximately 200 of these facilities have already been connected.
He emphasised that once the remaining facilities have their intra-systems set up, their networks will be fully operational.
Dr. Kuma-Aboagye also noted that the GHS is committed to expanding this initiative to further improve healthcare delivery across Ghana.
“One other thing in terms of data and technology is the fact that we are now getting fibre to about 740 of your facilities. All are going to get access to fibre where you have uninterrupted data for your work. You can do your telemedicine, you can do all your work.”
“I understand that currently about 200 of your facilities are already connected…Once you get your intra-system ready you will have your network working and we hope to expand that,” he stated.
