The Chief Executive Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah says the hospital has multiple cancer treatment machines and therefore media reports suggesting that a malfunction in one machine left patients without care was a misrepresentation of the issue.
He said the hospital operates multiple cancer treatment machines, and that only one of them recently experienced a temporary breakdown.
He, has, therefore described the reports as a “misrepresentation,” noting that KBTH is well-equipped with several machines to ensure continuous patient care.
He gave the clarification in a radio interview with Accra-based radio Citi FM on Wednesday.
He explained that the machine that broke down was the hospital’s most advanced and user-friendly piece of equipment.
However, he assured that the issue was quickly resolved within a few days, and patient treatments were not significantly impacted.
He compared the situation to having both a luxury car and a dependable everyday vehicle, where the latter continued to function without issue.
Dr. Ampomah said alternative measures were in place to ensure that no patient missed their scheduled treatment.
