Free Inspiration Reaching Everyone (F.I.R.E), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is set to partner with Global brands such as Google and Microsoft to create employmentfor the youth as well as offer mentorship programs in Ghana.
Speaking to BusinessGhana, the Founder of the NGO, Mr. Emil Acolatse said that the NGO started in Ghana in 2017 after successfully operating in the United States of America (USA) in 2015.
Their work includes mentorship, the provision of resources for students, and the establishment of youth development programmes.
The organization, as part of its mandate, organized its annual basketball clinics for students in December, 2022 in Accra by taking them through drills, exhibition matches, and more, to improve their skills.
Mr. Acolatse noted that the sports clinics had been expanded to include other disciplines such as volleyball, swimming, water polo, and American football.
"We want to make this our Olympics and create a platform for the youth to develop themselves" the founder added.
As part of its efforts to reduce unemployment in Ghana, F.I.R.E aims to create a database with its partners to provide training, resources, and opportunities for young professionals and entrepreneurs.
The NGO successfully held the first edition of a business and technology pitch in December 2022, at the World Trade Center in Accra, which saw the overall winner go home with USD1000 as startup capital.
The pitch, Mr. Acolatse said would be held annually to enable professionals to become employment-ready and self-reliant.
Again, the NGO has provided clothing to schools and laptops for children in deprived communities in the Volta, Ashanti, and Greater Accra Regions. The Founder disclosed that two more regions would be included in 2023 to expand their reach.
F.I.R.E also plans to build a community centre in Mamprobi in the Greater Accra Region.
