The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has advised customers to desist from panic buying of prepaid credit as all the technical challenges experienced last week have been resolved.
The Managing Director of ECG, Mr Samuel Dubik Mahama said the panic buying is contributing to the choking of the system and therefore customers should relax and allow only those who really need credit to purchase them.
He spoke at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday.
He said the ECG App was "the most convenient path for most customers and so we are trying to make it a bit more robust so it can take more traffic and try to put a lot more metre vending systems unto the App so that everybody can vend at their most convenience at any point in time.
"In the case of third party vendors, all of them are up, those who are having challenges should quickly see our office and we will help them address those challenges as soon as possible," he added.
“I would like to reiterate that if your power is not finished, please no need for you to panic, the problem has been resolved, just take your time when you run out, you can purchase, so that we can ease up on the lines and the queues that are forming at the District offices. But all third party vendors are up. All the third parties vendors who have problems should visit the ECG offices for the problem to be solved. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and we intend to do right for the good people of Ghana,” the MD said.
