The 2022 GHPAC Golden Gala and Awards Symposium will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. ahead of the United States 51st Annual Legislative Conferences (ALC) of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Convention and will also honor members of Congress who are committed to focusing on policies that advance U.S.-Ghana diplomatic and bilateral trade relations as members of the inaugural Congressional Ghana Caucus.

The gala will include keynote remarks from Honorable Alan Kyerematen, Republic of Ghana's Trade and Industry Minister as well as the participation of renowned global leaders, leaders in community development, elected officials, diplomats, corporate leaders and clergy that represent the achievement of Ghanaians in the diaspora, work to advance the development of Ghana and/or issues impacting the African diaspora.

Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collective (GHPAC) was founded by Ghanaian - American public policy and business professionals focused on empowering Ghanaians in the diaspora and advancing U.S.-Ghana relations. We are committed to working collectively as Ghanaians, people of Ghanaian descent and friends of Ghana to encourage civic engagement and advance policies through research, education, and community building.

"Ghana Diaspora Public Affairs Collective, affectionately known as GHPAC has made strides in our young existence to elevate the voices of Ghanaians living in the United States on matters of importance in U.S. policy and politics," said Adjoa Kyerematen, GHPAC Founding Council member. "The Golden Gala and Awards Symposium is intended to tell untold stories of the work many Ghanaians in the diaspora have done in service of the community as well as amplify opportunities for further progress." 

Some of their past work includes, but is not limited to:
 

• GHPAC has advocated for policies impacting Ghanaians living in the United States including harmful immigration policies, unemployment relief for gig workers, and relief for frontline workers.
• GHPAC hosted a Beyond the Return Townhall featuring U.S. House Foreign Affairs Chairman Gregory Meeks, focused on advancing trade and investment opportunities for diasporans.
• GHPAC co-hosted a meeting with the U.S. State Department on issues of diplomatic and security importance impacting U.S.-Ghana relations with the diaspora community.
• GHPAC convened a meet and greet with U.S. Senator Rev. Warnock of Georgia and the Ghanaian community leaders in Georgia.
• GHPAC co-hosted the 2021-GH Independence Day Townhall with the U.S. Ghana Embassy; and received official proclamations recognizing contributions of Ghanaian Americans from Congressman Danny Davis of Chicago, IL and Councilman Adrian Boafo of Bowie, MD.
