Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Very Revered Father George Arthur, Chaplain-General of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), has urged police personnel to protect the values and traditions of the service.

“This is to enable you to hand over a disciplined and undiluted police service to the next generation,” he added.

DCOP Arthur made the call at the 70^th anniversary thanksgiving church service of the Police Ladies Association (POLAS), at the Saint George Catholic Church at the National Police Training School, at Tesano, in Accra, last Sunday.

The programme, which was on the theme: “The future of women policing in Ghana” was graced by the former Inspector General of Police, Mr Patrick Acheampong, former Minister of the National Security, Mr Francis Poku, past and present executives of POLAS, representatives of ladies associations from sister security agencies, retired police commissioners and members of POLAS among others.

DCOP Arthur urged the police to leave impeccable footprints and legacy for the emulation by future generations.

He said the future of the service was in the hands of the police, and called for commitment, hard work, sacrifice, loyalty and honesty from all personnel of the service.

DCOP Rev. Arthur urged junior ranks of the police to prepare for leadership position in the service.

He called on Christians to care for the poor in society, adding that “if God blessed you in life, do not look down on people. We need humility to acknowledge that all things we have acquired are temporary.”

He called on the public to their teach their children ethical values, humility and they would become successful in life.

The President of POLAS, Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, thanked pioneers of the association for their contributions to women policing in the country.

She assured of the continuous determination of POLAS to helping in improving policing in the country.

COP Addo-Danquah appealed to stakeholders to assist POLAS achieve its goals.

As part of the programme, POLAS made a cash donation of GH¢2,000 to the church, to support them in their activities.

Prayers were also said for the country, personnel of security agencies, POLAS and the clergy among others.
