The winner of the 2021 Women's Prize for Fiction, one of the biggest annual, international celebrations of women's creativity, will be announced on Wednesday 8 September, at a celebrity-studded evening in Bedford Square Gardens, WC1.
Now in its 26th year, the Prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in writing by women throughout the world.
The winner receives a cheque for £30,000 and a limited-edition bronze known as a 'Bessie', created and donated by the artist Grizel Niven.
Both are anonymously endowed.
This year's Women's Prize for Fiction shortlist includes two British authors, two American, one Barbadian and one Ghanaian/American author.
The six books have been selected by Chair of judges Bernardine Evaristo and her judging panel: podcaster, author and journalist Elizabeth Day; TV and radio presenter, journalist and writer Vick Hope; print columnist and writer, Nesrine Malik; and news presenter and broadcaster Sarah-Jane Mee.

Limited interview and filming opportunities are available by prior arrangement with SixThree at the shortlisted readings event on Tuesday 7 September. The event is staged at Bedford Square Gardens from 7-9pm and will feature the shortlisted authors reading from and discussing their work with 2021 Women's Prize Chair of judges.
