The Military High Command has instituted internal disciplinary measures to deal with the soldiers who molested some civilians without any provocation in the Upper West capital of Wa, on Thursday, July.
"In view of the seriousness of the matter, the Chief of the Army Staff is leading a high powered military delegation to Wa to meet the traditional and opinion leaders to find an amicable way of resolving this unfortunate incident," a statement issued and signed by Colonel E. Aggrey Quashie, the Director- General of the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces, has said.
The delegation would also explore the means to assuage the anger of the people and promote good neighbourliness.
The statement, copied to the Ghana News Agency said, the unprofessional conduct took place at a time when the Commanding Officer of the soldiers, and the Chairman of the Regional Security Council were both out of town on official engagements.
"The Ghana Armed Forces once again wishes to assure the people of Wa and the general public that their safety is paramount at all times, as such would not condone any unprofessional conduct by any member of the force," the statement said.
The rampage, which was allegedly motivated by the missing phone of one of the soldiers, was captured on video, and has since gone viral.
