An Information Communication and Technology (ICT) training programme has kick-started for 50 youths in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency of the Central Region.

The five-day training scheduled to end on Friday, July 02, seeks to help equip the youth with contemporary skills needed to shape and establish them in businesses.

The training, being sponsored by Mr. Samuel Atta Mills, Member of Parliament for KEEA Constituency, would be implemented by Slam Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to improving and touching the lives of the youth with intensified ICT education.

Mr Atta Mills said the training was one of the numerous projects he had rolled out in the Constituency to equip them for the world of work, which engaged the services of the youth to lead meaningful lives.

He said he was making efforts to help the youth to get employable skills to enable them to impact positively on the society, adding that he intended to train more than 500 persons from the length and breadth of the Constituency.

"We are not politicizing the future of the Nation, so our selection of these beneficiaries is not limited to whom you know or who belong to what party, our focus is the future of KEEA", he emphasized.

The MP said he was yet to receive the subsidiary from the Government but needed to look through his own means to be able to positively impact the lives of the people and their future.

He said after the training, these beneficiaries would get all assets and equipment needed to run their businesses depending on their chosen fields.

On the categories for the training, Mrs Francisca Boateng, the Executive Director of Slam Foundation said the NGO would train them on help desk solutions, graphic designing and video editing.

Of the 50, she said 20 persons signed up to be trained on the help desk solutions,17 for graphic designing and 13 would also be trained in video editing.

She was positive that at the end of the programmes, the beneficiaries would become self-employed.

Mrs. Boateng who is also a resource person for the training said beneficiaries would be taken through cyber security, awareness and hygiene as a way of advocating safe cyber practices.

She urged all to participants to show high commitment for the training adding that, it was an opportunity to get transformed and most importantly be skillful.
