The Initiative Black and White (IBW), Ghana, a non-governmental organisation with support from its German partners, has distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth GHC14, 000.00 to selected Senior High and Junior High Schools in the Bono and Bono East Regions.
The PPE, comprising several Veronica Buckets, gallons of liquid soap, tissue papers, alcohol-based hand sanitisers and boxes of surgical nose masks, are to help prevent the spread of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in the 15 beneficiary schools in the two regions.
Some of the beneficiary schools were Sunyani (SHS), Gyarko Community SHS, Menji Agriculture SHS, Akumfi Ameyaw SHS, Sacred Heart SHS, Golden Intellectual Model Primary and JHS, SUSEC Model Primary and JHS, and the Holy Family Preparatory JHS.
Mr Joseph Tapena, the Project Coordinator, IBW Ghana, later told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) the NGO had scaled up COVID-19 education campaign to help stem the spread of the viral disease in the two regions.
He expressed the hope that the educational institutions would ensure that the PPE were used appropriately to prevent any possible outbreak of the disease, among students and teachers.
Mr Reynolds Anim, the Assistant Headmaster in-charge of Domestic at the SUSEC Model JHS, thanked the NGO for the gesture, saying items would greatly help protect students and teachers against the COVID-19.
