The Osu Presby Girls Basic School in Accra, Monday recorded high turn up as pupils rushed to the School on the first day to prepare for commencement of classes on Tuesday.
The GNA gathered that some pupils reported at the School as early as 0600 hours and were seen embracing themselves and chatting heartily in their nose masks.
Mrs. Lydia Offei Kwapong, Headmistress of the School, said she was amazed by the attendance and the promptness of the pupils.
“As you can see, almost all the pupils came to school today, the number is very impressive, this is a clear indication that the pupils were ready for studies and they have missed school a lot because they are tired of being in the house for almost a year,” she said.
The Headmistress said when the pupils reported in the morning, the Security Officer, checked their temperature and took them through COVID-19 protocols.
Mr. Thomas Worlanyo, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Teacher at the School, said due to the COVID-19, classrooms had been divided into two, with one class taking 15 pupils.
He said it was mandatory for all pupils to be in nose masks and wash their hands before entering the class.
Miss Daniella Sackey, a Junior High School One Pupil, said she was happy to come back to school.
Miss Sackey said they may need weekend classes to make up for the lost period.
