His Majesty, King Mohammed V1 of Morocco has directed that a massive vaccination against Covid-19 be launched in Morocco in the coming weeks. This follows the successful participation of the country in clinical trials and the results of clinical studies already completed or still underway which have, to a large extent, proven the safety, efficiency and immunogenicity of a vaccine. An
ad hoc National Scientific Committee that was set up stressed that the vaccination campaign was a real response to end the acute phase of the pandemic.
The nationwide operation of unprecedented scale is a step to control the spread of the virus and safeguard the health and safety of the populace.
The operation which consists of a two-injection vaccination schedule will target citizens over 18 years of age. Priority will be given in particular to front-line staff, in this case, health workers, public authorities, security forces and national education workers, as well as the elderly and people vulnerable to the virus, before extending it to the rest of the population.
His Majesty the King has asked the competent authorities to ensure the proper preparation and the smooth running of this large-scale national operation, at the health, logistical and technical levels. Particular emphasis was laid on the accessibility of the vaccine, within a social and supportive framework, and its availability in sufficient quantities, as well as on the medical logistics of transport, storage, and administration of the vaccine throughout the country and the establishment of an efficient system of pre-registration of beneficiaries.
