Nearly 240 ventures nominated for the UNDP Growth Stage Impact Ventures for SDGs (GSIV) selection process!
On May 26, the UNDP launched, along with EPFL Tech4Impact, Orange, and SAP, the second edition of the Call for Nominations to select Growth Stage Impact Ventures (GSIV) for SDGs, aimed at identifying 12 entrepreneurs from developing countries to pitch at our SDG Finance Geneva Summit (SGSGeneva) during the first quarter of 2021. Find more information in our initial Press Release.
The call ended on July 24th and it was our most successful to date, with nearly 240 nominations received! We wanted to share the analysis & insights with the media in the form of a short report. Where are the ventures located? How many do they employ? How many women-led companies were nominated? Who are the nominators and how did they relate to the ventures?
Please find the results of our analysis in the report attached. We also summarised it all on our blog Click here to read more.
You might wonder what's the next step. Having received nearly 240 nominations from around the world, this means that the nominated venture(s) are part of a very competitive process. After being checked for eligibility by the UNDP team, the Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) Tech4Impact team is carrying out an evaluation that will lead to 24 shortlisted ventures, which will be announced in October.
The 12 finalist entrepreneurs will then be announced towards the end of the year, after being evaluated by a Technical Committee of thematic experts and being endorsed by an advisory board of UN representatives.
