Ghana’s total number of recorded Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases has increased to 1,671 as at 28th April, 2020. The number of recoveries in the country has also increased to188 with 16 deaths.
568 of these cases have come from general surveillance and 1,113 from enhanced contact tracing according to Dr Parick Aboagye of the Ghana Health Services (GHS).
He said that 105 people are still in quarantine in Tamale with 1,461 exhibiting no symptoms and responding to treatment. He said that about 6 are moderate to critically ill. Giving further details he said that two are at the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), three in Ga East and one at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Dr Aboagye noted that the results are still being validated.
The current regional case count is as follows ( from highest to lowest) : Greater Accra Region has recorded total number of 1,433, while the Ashanti Region has recorded 84, the Eastern Region -57 and the Upper East Region – 18
The Oti and Central Regions have recorded 17 cases each, the Northern Region -13 and the Volta Region – 11. The Western Region has also recorded 9 cases and the Upper West Region has the lowest case count of 8.
