Water4 /Access Development, a safe water enterprise providing communities in the Wassa-East District access to safe and reliable water, has distributed hand washing items to communities in the Wassa-East District.
The items are Veronica buckets, washing basins, liquid soap and posters to educate community members on how to properly wash their hands to prevent the spread of the virus.
Country Director of the company, Ing. Yidana Mahami who made the presentation said the donation forms part of the company's widow's might to curb the spread of the virus in the Western Region.
He said placing Veronica buckets at vantage points was needful but of more importance was a constant supply of water in the Veronica buckets.
Ing.Mahami disclosed that the company was also supplying 90 litres of Numa purified water for each of the 130 handwashing stations and 180 litres to health care facilities in the District daily as the water was crucial for the prevention of the disease.
He stressed that though the virus was not yet in the District, there was the need to strictly follow the protocols prescribed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the government.
District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wassa-East, Mr Wilson Arthur who received the items on behalf of the Assembly lauded the company's efforts in addition to what the District Assembly and other partners were doing to bring the COVID-19 under control.
Mr.Arthur said the District had also put in place a Response Team, trained and resourced all Frontline workers on how they could manage suspected cases in their communities.
