He was of the firm belief that measures being taken by government to contain the virus was in the best interest of Ghanaians and must be supported by the citizenry by adhering to all directives towards the fight against the disease.

According to him, it was the civic responsibility of every Ghanaian to make an effort towards the national response of combating the coronavirus.

A press release signed by the Chief and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, implore Ghanaians, especially people in Zongo communities to observe all precautionary measures recommended by health authorities.

It encouraged residents in Zongos to abide by all measures announced by the President and reiterated by the National Chief Imam to prevent a possible community spread of the virus.

"It is very necessary for everyone in the Zongo community to play his or her part by following measures announced by the National Chief Imam and other relevant stakeholders," the release advised.

All public gatherings including Friday Jumah prayers, funerals, naming and marriage ceremonies in the Zongo communities within the metropolis have been put on hold, according to the release.

"We wish to remind faithful Muslim worshippers that constant use of public kettle to perform ablution could expose them to the deadly virus," it cautioned.

It praised the people of Zongo for responding positively to the President's directives and urged them to continue to observe all the basic safety protocols in order to collectively combat the virus.
