The Chiefs and People of the Builsa traditional area in the Upper East Region, have commended government for executing development projects to enhance the socio-economic lives of the people.
The projects include; the construction of health and educational facilities and improving the road network, which has improved the livelihoods of the people.
Nab Azaksuk Azantilow II, the Paramount Chief of the Builsa traditional area said this at the celebration of the 46th Feok festival, celebrated annually by the people to remember their forebears who fought and defeated the notorious slave raiders, Samori and Babatu, who terrorized the then upper region in the 19th century.
Nab Azantilow noted that the numerous government livelihood empowerment programmes such as the planting for food and jobs, one village one dam, one district one factory, and the one million dollar constituency fund among others, had restored the hopes of the people.
He urged the youth to eschew acts that may undermine the peace being enjoyed in the area and take advantage of the numerous opportunities rolled out by the government to improve their wellbeing.
He reminded the people of the benefits of the economic trees such as the Shea and urged them to safeguard the existing ones so as to continue to enjoy its fruits.
The Chief also encouraged the people to collaborate with the Northern Development Authority to learn how to make grass charcoal to stop felling the Shea trees for that purpose.
