The National Identification Authority (NIA) Monday announced that from Tuesday, 24th December to Sunday, 29th December, it will suspend the mass registration exercise for the Ghana Card, which is underway in the Ashanti Region.
A statement issued, on Monday, by the NIA, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said this would enable the registration officials to join their families for the Christmas holidays and festivities.
The officers had so far been in 11 regions of the country, undertaking the mass registration exercise since April 2019, the statement, signed by Mr Francis Palmdetti, the Head of Public Affairs, said.
"The break will also enable the NIA to address a number of operational issues affecting the printing and issuance of cards in the Ashanti Region," it said.
The mass registration exercise in the Region will resume on Monday, 30th December, and continue till Friday, 10th January 2020.
This, however, exclude January One and January 7th, which are statutory public holidays.
