The items, which included diapers, toilet rolls, soap, rice, cooking oil, floor mops, detergents, antiseptics and wipes, were presented in fulfilment of a promise she made last year when she made a similar donation to the hospital.
During last year’s presentation, Mrs Mensah, who is the Proprietress of Majestic Line Company, dealers in textiles and other commodities, promised to make an improved donation this year.
Supporting the needy
At a brief ceremony at the hospital, Mrs Mensah said she was moved by the challenges the hospital faced in offering quality service to the increasing number of patients.
Mrs Mensah said it was clear that the government alone could not bear the responsibility of financing every aspect of the hospital’s delivery due to pressure on the national budget.
It was, therefore, important, she said, that individuals and private institutions lent their support.
She expressed the hope that the donation would help bring some comfort to the patients.
Mrs Mensah noted the enormous importance of the hospital in health delivery and promised that she would continue to support it in her own small way.
Gratitude
The Head of the Public Relations Department of the hospital, Dr Ama Boadu, thanked Mrs Mensah for the support.
She said demonstrating love for the needy, especially mental patients, was something worthy of emulation.
She promised that the items would be put to good use.
