Mr. James Kofi Fonu Kpatakpa, a proud indigen of Kpando and the immediate past Deputy National Youth Organizer of the N.D.C, on 1st May 2019, May day or Workers day as it is popularly called, organised a football gala competition for the up and coming teams from all the communities in the municipality.
The event which is geared towards promoting sports and youth development in Kpando was graced by a large number of enthusiastic youth from surrounding communities.
In his speech, the organizer, Mr. Fonu, emphasized that sports is not only a source of entertainment but also a money making venture, thus, he would make everything possible to unearth young talents who would be able to play both locally and internationally.
He promised the various communities in the municipality astro turf pitches and the needed logistics that would motivate the youth and whip up their interest in sports.
He also emphasized that the competition was going to be an annual one, hence Mr. Afenyo Kennedy a PE teacher from Kpasec was appointed as the chairman of the committee to see to making this a possibility.
The winner of the competition was Diamond FC from Torkor. Vigilante FC from Tsakpe came second whereas Workers FC, a keepfit club for workers and Lakeside FC from Gbefi came in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
