The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has called for the introduction of Information Technology Law course for law students so they become abreast with E-Justice project rolled out by the Judicial Service.
Mr Anthony Forson, the President of GBA, said the introduction of the course would also enable students acquire the needed Information Technology Skills and understand the use of the GBA Portal.
According to Mr Forson, the course would also enable students to match up with international standards when they become Lawyers and Judges.
Mr. Forson was speaking at the Launch of the E-Justice Project by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo at the Law Courts Complex in Accra on Wednesday.
The E-Justice Project, also known as Paperless Court, seeks to automate the existing manual filing systems with the courts' registries, from the filing of cases to the execution of court decisions.
The projects would do away with the duplication of suit numbers as well as loss of documentation during processing.
The GBA President appealed to stakeholders to synchronize all three projects namely E-Justice Project, the Case Tracking System and the GBA Portal in order to avoid the duplication of efforts.
He explained that the GBA Portal would enable lawyers to renew their license, subscription of law reports, E-Voting, provide the public with access to legal Aid lawyers, among others.
On the E-Justice project, Mr Forson appealed to stakeholders to be patient with any challenges that might occur since commencement of projects usually were greeted with challenges.
