Dr John Yamba, an Australian based Physician Consultant, has presented twenty eight of electronic beds to the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.
The electronic beds when assembled would be used by patients who are critically ill and cannot move.
They are designed to help patients position themselves the way they desire or that which is suitable for their condition.
Dr Yamba presenting the beds said he wanted to support the hospital to meet the health needs of the people.
“As a native, I have benefited from the Bawku and the Upper East Region and am doing this to help my people and to thank them for supporting me when I was growing up”, he said.
He said he has read reports on the shortage of beds in some hospitals in the country and the donation was meant to complement what the hospital had and also reduce accidental deaths due to the movement of patients in critical condition.
Dr Yamba urged the hospital to put the beds into good use and also adopt a good maintenance culture for the beds to prolong their life span.
Dr Seidu Sukenibe, the Medical Director of the Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the hospital and the Presbyterian Health Services-North, lauded the effort and said the beds had come at a time the hospital needed additional beds to replace old and broken ones.
Dr Sukenibe said the electronic beds would be of great use to the hospital especially with patients who are in critical conditions.
He assured the Philanthropist that the beds would be maintained regularly and called on stakeholders in the health sector to support health facilities to provide quality health services.
