The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate will from Thursday November 15, 2018, commence the free distribution of insecticide treated bed nets to the people in the region.
The one-week exercise will see the distribution of a total of 3,674,680 treated nets to 1,630,999 households, who have registered with the directorate to receive the nets in the region.
Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, Regional Director of Health Services, announcing this, said distribution centres had been created in the various communities in the region for collection by the beneficiaries. Speaking to journalists in Kumasi, he said all the leaders of the registered households should bring along their code cards to the designated distribution points for collection.
Dr. Tenkorang said the Ghana Health Service was committed to reducing the incidence of malaria to the barest minimum and urged the people, especially pregnant women to request for treated nets whenever they visited health facilities.
