Ghana Tourism Authority in partnership with Tour Guides Association of Ghana at the weekend organized a three day training for practising tour guides in Tamale.The nationwide training was to build the capacity of tour guides in the three regions in the North.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency after the closing ceremony, Mr Kwasi Anim – Larbi, the Acting Human Resource Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority said the training was to provide a formal medium to license Tour Guides and chat the way forward to promote tourism in the country.
He said after the training program Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with Tour Guides Association of Ghana would register the qualified tours guides across the country and issue them with licenses to operate.
Mr Nkunu Akyea who was the course coordinator and also a Tourism specialist at Ghana Tourism Authority advised the participants to use the knowledge they have acquired at the training to promote the Ghanaian culture.
He urged stakeholders in the tourism sector to work hard and showcase the Ghanaian rich cultural to the world to advance tourism in the country. Certificates were awarded to 95 tour guides who participated in the capacity building training program.
