Coasts and Scrubs in collaboration with The HuD Group has announced the second edition of the A++ MEDIC: Start Right, End Big Conference to be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the SMS Auditorium at the University of Cape Coast.
The inspirational and empowering conference is aimed at orienting students from various health-related programmes as well as to set them on a path to becoming holistic and exceptional health professionals.
The conference would also help them to recognize and take advantage of the various opportunities university education provides them. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Ms Adwoa Boatemaa Bonsu, the Head of Coats and Scrubs said such conferences targeting students cannot be overemphasized, as the field of healthcare is fast evolving.
She said: “this requires that up-coming professionals are adept in the dynamism in order to keep pace and compete on a global scale.
“That is to say, that the days of strait-jacket healthcare practice is long gone, thus those desire to be outstanding are not just excellent intellectually, or A students as we call them, but holistic. This is what we call the A++ Medic”.
Ms Boatemaa Bonsu said the conference would be addressed by healthcare professionals namely: Dr. William Okyere-Frempong, Acting Medical Superintendent of the LEKMA polyclinic, Justine Boatemaa Coomson, Innovations for Poverty Action, Mr Benson Owusu, Clinical Advisor at the Vodafone Healthline and founder of the Quik medical consult and Laud Anthony Basing, CEO and founder of Incas diagnostics.
She said areas that the conference seeks to cover include: mission and purpose statement; goal setting, the successful academic life, the holistic medic, key areas to develop before graduation and challenges to expect and how to deal with them.
Coats and Scrubs Network is a registered Association under the Office of the Dean, University of Cape Coast. The association has the aim of providing complete resources, inspiration, opportunities and information for students enrolled in healthcare programmes.
The Association was founded in 2017 as an offshoot of Coats & Scrubs – a social enterprise with the same vision- as a means of increasing its student reach. The HuD group is a dynamic international Christian organization with the vision of creating a network and a movement of inspired, informed and invigorated people of Godly influence by engaging hearts, enlightening Heads and empowering the hands of emerging leaders for societal impact and God’s Glory.
