The Society said his appointment formed part of strategies to rebrand and improve its visibility across the country and help to achieve its strategic vision 2030 Project. Nana Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, the President of GRCS, during the inauguration in Accra on Wednesday, said the Society had been struggling financially in recent times to acquire logistics to enable it to render services effectively.

He said funding from government was inadequate and so the only alternative was to depend on development partners.  “Funding support from these partners are also challenged because most of them have pulled out due to our status as a middle income country. Corporate Ghana funding support for social responsibility programmes has also been a challenge. "

"This means that we the players in the humanitarian sector have to adopt innovative ways to mobilise resources to fund our activities." "It is on this basis that we, as Ghana Red Cross, have come with the initiative 'Bring to Save Life," he noted.

He said Mr Ofosu Yeboah was selected for his achievements in humanitarian projects and the confidence he inspired regardless of his disability. Mr Ofosu Yeboah, who also doubles as the President of the Ghana Amputee Football League, said he was honoured to be appointed the Ambassador of the campaign.

He said he was ready to work hard to create the needed awareness and called for support from government, corporate bodies, benevolent organisations and individuals to make it a success.
