The strategic plan 2017-2027 is expected to re-position the University as a pre-eminent research and practically-oriented health education institution dedicated to community service.

Justice Victor Dotse, Chairman of the University Council who launched the plan at the third UHAS Leadership Lecture Series in memory of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, said the aim was to bring UHAS to new heights through innovative teaching and cutting edge community oriented-research.

He said the University’s core values of excellence, integrity, innovation and service would permeate its dealings with both internal and external stakeholders and set it apart from other universities in Africa and the world.

Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice-Chancellor of the University said the strategic plan had 10 key objectives to guide the University in its next phase of development.He said an implementation plan and operational document were being developed towards the achievement of set goals by 2027.

The launch of the strategic plan coincided with the University’s special congregation, which conferred honourary doctorate degree of science on Dr. Moeti, Dr. Moses Adibo and Mr Kofi Nsiah-Poku for their contributions to healthcare delivery.

UHAS was established by an Act of Parliament (ACT 828 of December 2011) as a public university in Ghana to be a pre-eminent research and practically orientated health educational institution dedicated to community service and to provide for related matters.
