Acting Vice President of the Christian Service University College, Dr. Peter White, has called for people in leadership to demonstrate strong sense of integrity and accountability.
That, he said, was how to sustain the trust of those they were leading – get the people behind them. Dr. White added that “staying true to their words” would not only clear any uncertainties and anxieties but help to build confidence in them.
He was speaking at this year’s African Biblical Leadership Initiative – Ghana’s forum, organized by the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG), in Kumasi. It was held under the theme, “Integrity and servant leadership: Definitive marks of an effective leader”.
The forum seeks to promote leadership transformation using the Bible as a tool to empower leaders by emphasizing on integrity, compassion and justice. It also provides the platform for building the capacity of the youth in leadership and help them to uphold the value of integrity.
The participants included students from selected senior high schools, church youth groups, teachers and mentors from educational and corporate institutions. Dr. White said “integrity and servant-leadership” would stifle corruption and negligence, adding that, this was vital to the progress of society.
“It is critical that our leaders govern with integrity and with the mindset to serve. These principles secure the resources and future of the state.” He asked that they overcame self- aggrandizement, crave for power and wealth and unbridled desire for titles and honors. He said it was important to recognize that the youth were looking up to them for direction and inspiration.
