The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, in May 2017, cut the sod for work to begin and it is expected to be completed in four months’ time.

A team from the First Lady’s office and Multimedia Group last Saturday toured the construction site to ascertain the progress of work.

Mr Stephan Coret of Africa Building Partners, contractors of the project, conducted the team round the project.

According to Mr Coret, who is the site engineer, his team was working tirelessly to ensure that the facility was completed and inaugurated on schedule.

The Managing Director of Multi TV, Mr Santokh Singh, who led the Multimedia team, expressed his excitement at the extent of work done considering the tight schedule the contractor was working with.

Mr Kwaku Kwakye, who led the team from the First Lady’s office, also expressed his gratitude to all those who had contributed and supported the project in various ways.

Project

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo initiated the project, in collaboration with the Multimedia Group, following a Joy News documentary dubbed: “Next to Die,” which revealed that about four babies die every day at the hospital due to congestion and its accompanying infections.

The First Lady subsequently launched a fund-raising drive to construct a facility, which when completed will increase the facility’s capacity by five times.
