Harvest International Ministries is to set-up a modern community-based Information, Communication and Technology Centre of Excellence to empower the youth.
The project would serve as Youth Development platform, Research Centre, and training ground to propel the youth for the job market.
The Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor, Head Pastor of the church announced this during the dedication and consecration of the Harvest Chapel International headquarters building tagged as “The Tehilla Temple” in Accra.
The about 2,000 seating capacity modern auditorium is designed in contemporary and traditional architecture and is affixed with high-tech sound proof systems to insulate the neighbours from Church activity echoes with other safety measures including security exit points.
“The interior décor, as minimalistic as it is, offers solemn ambience for worship as well as creating a commemoration that God is the centre of Christian Worship and nothing else.”
Rev. Odonkor noted that the church would continue to offer support to communities “we operate in as a way of demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to the world.
“We will continue to scale-up our free medical mission especially in the rural areas, enlarge our welfare packages to vulnerable members and non-members, and continue to empower society through Biblical principles whilst reaching out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will also work with state actors when necessary to accelerate development”.
Rev. Odonkor called for greater and regular engagement between the church and other social-political-economic actors for national development “we have a divine mission to enhance our communities and neighbourhood and we can only achieve it if we work together”.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President who was the special guest of honour lauded the contribution of the churches towards the country’s socio- economic growth.
The Church has been a major player in the nation’s educational systems, economic and other sectors. “The Church in diverse ways spiritually and socially has been the anchor of the State.
“If you look at education in Ghana, the church has been a major pillar in the educational system as well as championing development projects and economic ventures across the country,” he added.
He called for greater collaboration between the state and religious establishment for rapid transformation of the country “we must always focus on the Lord…the battle indeed is the Lord’s”.
