Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister for Employment and Labor Relations, has rallied the church to join the fight to overcome poverty and transform the lives of the people.
It should not focus only on the spiritual development of the congregation but must be interested in creating jobs for them so that they would live in some dignity. He was speaking at the launch of a book titled “Church of the Lord (Brotherhood), History, Challenges and Growth” in Kumasi. The 205-page book was authored by the Reverend Dr. Thomas A. Oduro, Principal of Good News Theological College, in Accra.
It provides useful insight into the challenges of African Independent Churches (AICs) despite their tremendous contribution to the reformation of Christianity in the continent through the integration of African culture, worldview, personality, music, arts and philosophy into Christian religious worship.
The first three copies were auctioned for GH?13,000.00.
Mr. Baffour Awuah gave the assurance that the government would keep faith with Ghanaians and deliver on its election promises. He, however, appealed to the church to support them with unceasing prayers as they worked to restore the nation to the path of progress.The book launch coincided with the celebration of 43 years of existence of the Brotherhood Church, held under the theme, “This is how far the Lord has brought us, let’s continue to build”.
The Minister expressed the government’s total commitment to partner the church to improve the living conditions of the people.The Right Rev Seth K. Adofo, Primate and Spiritual Head of the Brotherhood Church, applauded the author for his work and said it was going to serve as a vital source of inspiration to many.
