Mrs Jackie Ahomka-Lindsay, the President of the Ghana International Women’s Club, has called on women to always go for breast examination frequently so as to detect diseases early.
She said diseases, when detected early, were less-expensive and easy to treat than to wait until they got out of hand. Mrs Ahomka-Lindsay made the call at the end of a Fundraising Health Walk in Accra on Saturday.
The walk, which was led by Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo, the First Lady, started at the Labadi Beach Hotel to the International Trade Fair Centre and back to the hotel. Mrs Ahomka-Lindsay, who is also the President of Children’s Heart Foundation, said the walk was to raise funds to support the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
She said the Foundation had, so far, paid for the medical expenses of 80 children who had undergone open heart surgery. Mrs Ahomka-Lindsay appealed to benevolent organisations, Non-Governmental Organisation and other philanthropists to come to the aid of the Foundation to enable it to reach out to more people in need.
