Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister has charged civil servants in the Region to be committed to fighting corruption. He said Government had great plans to lift the nation out of poverty, which he said stemmed from greed and corruption, and asked civil servants to help stop ‘dishonest use of power.’
Dr. Letsa who was meeting the Region’s Heads of Departments in Ho on Wednesday asked them to be honest, eschew selfishness, promote the collective interest and work in line with the government’s policies.
He described as unacceptable and a conflict of interest, the use of public offices and resources for private businesses and urged them to recommit themselves to improve the economy of the country.
“I appeal to your consciences. If we love our country and are ready to provide selfless leadership for this country to progress, Volta Region will become a better place for all of us, Dr. Letsa stated.
He said the Region’s position on the District league was disappointing in that no District Assembly made progress in 2016 over 2015 and entreated the various stakeholders to work together to improve the situation.
