The First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has presented assorted items to the Chance for Children Home at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region to mark her 66th birthday that fell on March 12.
The donation, which included bags of rice, cooking oil, biscuits, drinks, diapers, cartons of milk and milo, sardines and tissue papers, as well as some shoes, forms part of the many donations which the First Lady made to support the vulnerable in society over the years.
The First Lady used the occasion to wish the children well and encouraged the children to stay hopeful and also learn very hard so they could become useful citizens in the future.
Mrs Akufo-Addo also expressed best wishes from the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the children.
Mr. Awuley Nartey, Director of the Home, thanked the First Lady for the gesture and wished her a fruitful long life.
Chance for Children is an international NGO established by a Ghanaian and Swiss, Mr Amon Kotey and Daniela Ruedisueli Sodja to reach out to children living on the streets to help identify their needs and empower them.
The children are, however, reintegrated back to their families and provided support when necessary.
