The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) in fulfillment of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has donated foodstuffs worth GHC5,000.00 and an cash of GHC3,000.00 to the Country Side Children's Home in Awutu Bawjiase.
Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso I, President of the GNCC, said: “It is a season of love and GNCC has come to share love with the children’s home as part of its CSR,” and assured the home of its support.
He said that the GNCC worked to create a favorable environment for the private sector adding that it employed about 96 per cent of the workforce of Ghana while the Government employed six per cent.
Madam Emma Yeboah, Founder of the Country Side Children's Home, expressed gratitude to the GNCC and its council members for extending their love to the home which has 143 children, of which 30 are from the orphanage. Humphrey Pattison, the Administrator of the home, said: “We get donations usually during festive seasons, Christmas and Easter, and that has been a challenge as managing the home becomes difficult a while after the season. We currently need infrastructure: we have only six classrooms instead of nine.”
He said the home was not able to employ qualified personnel to work with it due to financial challenges. Despite the situation, the home had supported a child to complete the undergraduate course at the Ghana Technology University College. Apostle Billy Richards of the Grace Fellowship Ministries, USA, who graced the occasion, said his ministry was committed to supporting the children's home and that it had provided 144 beds to the children's home.
