Miss Lily Tugbah, a student of Solidarity International School in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, beat 196 other spellers to be crowned the winner.The General Manager said children should be motivated by the success chalked by the new Spelling Bee champion, saying with the right set of attitude; they could succeed regardless of the obstacles on their way.

 A statement issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra commended the winner, adding, that her success should serve as motivation for Ghanaian children particularly those who feel limited by their background or where they live.  “Lily’s sterling performance should tell our children and indeed all of us that no matter where you live or come from, you can make it with determination”.

He commended the Young Educators Foundation, organisers of Spelling Bee in the country for working hard to sustain the competition and improving upon it over the years.Mr Shah said Indomie was proud to be associated with the competition and challenged them to adequately prepare Ms Tugbah for the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in the United States of America. 

Two other girls, Gabriella Ellis, 12, of Delhi Public School International and Ewoenam Afetsi, 13, of SOS Hermann Gmeiner emerged first and second runner-ups respectively.  Mr Shah described the performance of the young ladies as heart-warming and a testament to the fact that the country has done well over the years to promote girl-child education.
