Melcom Care Foundation, the charity wing of Melcom Group of Companies has presented assorted items to children on admission at the Paediatrics Ward of the Police Hospital in Accra.
The assorted items include biscuits, drinks, and teddy bears. Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, the Director of Communications of the Melcom Group of Companies speaking at the donation on Wednesday, said the donation was part of the Group's corporate social responsibility as well as mark International Day for Cancer, which fell on Saturday, February 4.
He said the Melcom Care Foundation was standing on two pillars; namely health and education; explaining that this year, the Foundation would be placing more emphasis on health issues. Mr Avenorgbo said there was cordial relation between the Police Hospital Paediatrics Ward and the Melcom Group of Companies and therefore pledged their continued support for the Ward.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Dr Marrian Tetteh Korboe, Head of the Paediatrics Department of the Police Hospital, expressed gratitude to the Melcom Group of Companies for their continued support to the Hospital. The mother of one of the children on admission, who pleaded anonymity, also thanked the Group for the kind gesture.
