According to Graphic Online's Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson the case was dismissed based on a preliminary legal objection raised by the defendants MIDA, Energy Commission, Public Utilities Regulatory Commission and the Attorney General.

The court ruled that the plaintiff, a group known as the Coalition Against the Concession of ECG lack the capacity to initiate the case.

Background

The Coalition against the concession of ECG, contends that the proposed plan by government is not in the best interest of the nation and must not be allowed to go through.

Workers of ECG have been protesting against the deal, which is under Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Power Compact II, claiming it would lead to massive lay-offs and also not in the interest of Ghana.

However, the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) had assured that the deal will not affect jobs.
