Dr Kwaku Agyenang-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has underlined the need for Ghanaians to strive to consolidate the prevailing peace in the country.
He said it was important for the people to keep reminding themselves that there could not be any meaningful progress in an atmosphere of chaos, fear and insecurity.
The Regional Minister was addressing a grand durbar, held by the chiefs and people of Kyempo, in the Asante-Akim South District, to climax the celebrations of the Kwadutwum festival.
The event was not only used to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people, but also to raise funds towards a school project.
Dr Agyemang-Mensah entreated the people to unite and commit themselves to the development of the community through self-help.
He advised them to invest in their children's education and lauded their decision to build a new school.
He pledged 200 bags of cement towards the project and assured them that government would not renege on its promise to make life better for Ghanaians.
Mr De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the assembly would support them to construct the school.
Nana Asirifi Amaning, Chief of Kyempo, appealed for an extension of electricity to the community.
