The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says it has restored power to the Electricity Company of Ghana after repairing the fault that occurred at the Achimota Sub-Station on Wednesday night.
A statement signed by Mr Albert Quainoo, Head of Public Relations of GRIDCo said: “Ghana Grid Company Limited wishes to inform the general public that the fault which occurred at the Achimota
Sub-Station last night has been rectified and supply of electricity to the Electricity Company of Ghana has been restored.”
GRIDCo said the loss of electricity supply to parts of Accra and its environs on Wednesday night was as a result of “a blast on critical equipment” at the Achimota Sub-Station.
It said the blast took out of service one of the transformers at the sub-station resulting in the loss of supply to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
