Mr Victor-Hermann Condobrey, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, has called on the youth to be guided by the selflessness and zeal by the forefathers in the independence struggle.
He said this would help renew their spirit of nation-building for a better future.
Mr Condobrey was addressing the Hohoe Municipal 54th Independent Day celebrations at the Saint Francis College of Education Park.
It is under the theme; “Discipline and Hard Work: Essential Pre-requisites for a Better Ghana.”
A total of 73 schools from senior high, junior high and primary schools participated in the parade with music provided by Royal Cadet, Messiah and E.P. Brass Band.
He said discipline and hard work are inseparable and urged all in leadership positions to champion that national call for accelerated better Ghana.
Mr Condobrey urged students and the youth in general to channel their synergies and exuberance into constructive work for a guaranteed future rather than becoming appendages of violent acts of faceless entities in society.
He was full of praise of teachers for denouncing threats of boycotts to participate in the anniversary, which he described as a sign of patriotism and nationalism.
The MCE added that government was committed to the full implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure including addressing anomalies emerging from migrating teachers’ onto the new pay scheme.
He warned that the HIV/AIDS menace was still prevalent and urged all including the youth to live upright lifestyles or risk their future development.
Mr Condobrey condemned excessive noise-making in the municipality from entertainment spots and music shops and called on those responsible to minimise the noise.
He called on party faithful to harness their energies towards retaining power in the 2012 general election.
