Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Benjamin Kwadwo Gyasi, Asante-Mampong Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Commander, has advised drivers to ensure strict compliance with road traffic regulations to reduce road accidents.
They should also see to it that their vehicles are regularly serviced and covered with valid documents.
DSP Gyasi gave the advice at a day’s seminar organized jointly by the Asante-Mampong MTTU and the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA) for drivers and officials of the various transport unions in the municipality.
It provided the platform to educate them on road traffic laws and formed part of measures to help reduce the carnage on the roads.
The MTTU Commander encouraged drivers to acquire copies of the Highway Code so as to be more conversant with road signs and markings.
Additionally, they need to have enough sleep and stretch out frequently when on long journey and must as well put on the seat belts.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Edward Oduro-Kwateng, the Divisional Commander, warned that indiscipline drivers would be arrested and prosecuted.
