The Sissala West District Director of Health Services, Mrs. Grace Tanye, has said lack of residential accommodation for health workers in the district was affecting the quality of healthcare delivery in the area.
She said health professionals refused posting to the area because of the lack of accommodation resulting in understaffing in the facilities.
Madam Tanye said this at the mid-year review meeting of the GHS in the district at Gwollu.
The meeting evaluated their performance, shared ideas with the objective of coming out with realistic strategies to improve upon service
delivery in the district.
She appealed to the Sissala West District Assembly to rehabilitate the health director's bungalow and provide more residential accommodation for health staff in the district.
Madam Tanye bemoaned the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the area and advised people to go in for voluntary counselling and testing to know their status.
She mentioned the lack of a medical officer, residential accommodation, low utilisation of health services and inadequate staffing as some of the challenges facing the district health directorate.
