The Asante-Bekwai Municipal Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr William Bediako Asante, has appealed to the rich in society to help create the right environment for effective teaching and learning in schools in deprived communities.
He said given the needed logistics and small improvement of the infrastructure through the support of public-spirited groups and individuals, children in these schools could significantly raise their
academic performance.
Mr Bediako-Asante was presenting teaching and learning materials together with second-hand clothing to pupils of the Adumasa M/A
primary school in the Bekwai Municipality.
He has adopted the school and has been assisting the pupils with mathematical sets, exercise books, pens and pencils over the last three years.
He appealed to parents to take keen interest in the education of their children and to cooperate with teachers.
Mr Bediako-Asante appealed to the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service and the Municipal Assembly to act quickly to end the situation where some pupils of the school study under trees.
Mr Maxwell Ofori-Atta, the Head teacher, thanked Mr Bediako-Asante and said his annual presentations had helped to increase the
school's enrolment.
He appealed to other philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.
